Nyapea Obstetrics and Gynaecological department of Holy Family Hospital Nyapea. That was established in June 1987 as maternity home but later expanded to a full department of 67 bed capacity handling both obstetrics and gynaecological cases. The main beneficiaries are the referred pregnant women with obstetric complications, their families and the communities in Zombo district and other neighbouring districts and eastern democratic republic of Congo. With population of over 255,000 people. Nyapea Obstetrics and gynaecological department overall objective is; to provide with love holistic maternal and neonatal quality services to all mothers and their new borns, their families and communities.

Through its holistic maternal and new born services delivery over 3150 mothers and their families are served annually. On average the department conducts 6 deliveries daily and receives 400 referrals from peripheral units in the district monthly. The department has several service units within it with the following services offered:-

  1. Conducting labour and deliveries
  2. Postnatal care with 24 hours for normal deliveries and 6 days for caesarian section
  3. Neonatal care
  4. Emergency care for obortion
  5. Gynaecological care and treatment
  6. Psycho social support and palliative care

Nyapea Gynaecological and Obstetric department is operational 24hours a day. Has a full  team of 15 Midwives, two Doctors, one paramedical and other auxillary staff.

Dr. Moses Owiny

Medical officer and Head of Department Nyapea Obstetric and gynaecological department. He started working at Nyapea Hospital in August 2016 and she was appointed head of Obs and Gyn Department in September 2017.
